Background
Foreign trade is an important part of the country’s economy and is the exchange of goods and services between various regions or cities in a country. It also works to enhance local production and ensure the availability of products to maintain food security through stabilizing the population’s supply of goods and providing their needs for goods, whether produced locally or imported from abroad.
Foreign Trade Law No. (5) of 2007 aims to supervise the organization of domestic markets with the aim of protecting the consumer and controlling goods in terms of quality and conformity with Yemeni and international specifications and standards, and working to organize and secure the movement of goods in the various governorates of Republic.
The importance of foreign trade is through the collection of data it provides on workers’ compensation, paid-up capital, production requirements, total production, value added, depreciation, investment volume through the movement of fixed assets, and other data that helps in preparing economic statistical indicators and preparing national accounts tables.
Methodology
Annual domestic trade survey, which is considered one of the important economic surveys and contributes to the composition of the gross domestic product and employment, as this survey is conducted on establishments operating in the activities of the wholesale trade sector, retail trade, and motor transport trade and maintenance.
Study the quarterly indicators that are implemented for domestic trade activities every four months.
